Analyse 2 films similar to your film and explain how they are similar

There are several films in the movie industry which relate to kidnapping and scenes of violence, however we wanted to use 2 films which expressed real gritty and gruesome films of violence. In addition to this we wanted to gain influences from films with scenes of torture. The two films we decided to link our film with is Reservoir Dogs, which has a gruesome but calm torture scenes as the director forcefully represented binary opposition between the villain and the man being tortured, this is where we got our key idea from. In addition to this another film which we gained aspiration from is Hostel which is directed by Quentin Tarantino, as he expresses and promotes key scenes of violence and torture. In our opening introduction The Crypt we will also be presenting torture and gruesome scenes to create a great sense of suspense and thrilling moments to engage and excite our target audience. Furthermore both films are directed by Quentin Tarantino and we have used his directing skills and common presentations of torture as an inspiration. However the scene of torture used in reservoir dogs is much more of a representation of our short movie clip as it expresses the binary opposition which is a key and fundamental idea in our short film. The clip shows a key example of binary opposition as it identifies the differences in feelings at this moment as the torturer is so calm and collective, contrasting with the victim who is exceedingly frightened, we have used this idea as a great inspiration for our film The Crypt.
