Music Video Survey

  • We chose various questions for the survey in order to uncover the answers, as a group we wanted to gather meaningful opinions, comments and feedback. By conducting an online survey, it is more private, thus interviewees tend to be more open and provide honest feedback.
  • Additionally, as a group we are able to base decisions on objective information. Conducting surveys is an unbiased way to make decisions. We don't rely on a hunch or gut-feeling, thus we can make sensible decisions based on analysed results.
  • The survey that we conducted provided a snapshot of attitudes, opinions and basic information of individuals collated together. From this we are able to compare results and see how we are able to appeal to a wide target audience.
RESULTS

1) 20 People Who Took Survey - 8 Male / 12 Female

--> As a result, we found that more females took the survey so we decided to cast a female protagonist as an audience would be able to identify more with her opposed to a male who is expected to front out emotional disruptions in life.

2) Majority of participants 15-20 years of age

--> From this we can try and adapt our music video to a younger target audience which can be done through clothing as well as taking part in typical teenage activities such as smoking, drinking etc.

3) 13/20 Liked Indie Music

--> Stay High is categorised as a indie hip-hop track, so is suitable for our target audience.

4) 1* = 2    2* = 3     3* = 6     4* = 7    5* = 2

--> Generally 3* + we believe means more people prefer the narrative than don't thus, people are interested in teenage issues in today's society

5) Performance = 6 Votes        Narrative = 9 Votes        Both = 5

--> More people prefer a narrative based music video. However, having a balance is key in order to keep an audience entertained so we will make a video that is pleasing to the eye and has a clear story line.

6) Yes = 14 Votes        No = 6 Votes

--> Because of this we will track the protagonist throughout the video to show how a day in the life of Lucy pans out so an audience can build a rapport with her
