Costumes and Props

Props are crucial in music videos, sometimes they are used to illustrate the narrative, and when linking the lyrics with the visuals, props are often used. the props in a music video adds to the entertainment side and can be used in an imaginative way. For example, one way props that have been used to make a music video more interesting is Telephone by Lady Gaga.

The costume is usually used to represent certain characters in different ways. Alternative artists would wear different clothes to represent the narrative of the music video. For example, the actress in The A Team, the girl who is evidently distraught is dressed in an informal way, demonstrating the lack of care, emphasising the effects of her depression.

Our Idea:

The props our group intend to use for the music video includes:

• Drugs - Generally, marijuana users use the drug in order to relieve the stress, anxiety, fear, pain or anger related to personal, psychological or family issues.
• Alcohol - After a certain amount of alcohol is drunk it will eventually affect 50+ neurological mechanisms. It's widely known to temporarily reduce stress.As well as this, alcohol abuse is a form of self-harm primarily damaging one's liver. In the case of our story, the protagonist is attempting to find an escape route of suffering whilst at the same time, purposely wrecking their insides.
• Cigarettes - Cigarettes are infamously known as a 'stress-relief' for smokers, by the actor lighting up a cigarette on multiple occasions it tells an audience, he is struggling to cope with the expectations of society.
