Choosing between actor and actress

The actress who will play the role of our depressed and alcohol addicted character is Lucy Johnson. The reason our group decided to go for a girl rather than a boy to play the role is because our song is recorded by a girl and wanted that to match the music video. Furthermore we believed she would fulfil the role much better as she would show greater passion and commitment to the role. As well as this, studies show that an individual is much more likely to feel sympathetic towards a distraught young girl rather than a boy, thus we are able to exaggerate our actress' role in the music video. In addition to this we have taken great influence from Ed Sheehan's A-team as he has a female character playing that role and we have based our music video on the success of Ed Sheehan's A-team.

We held auditions for this role but went with Lucy over Jack as we felt a girl was far more suited to the role than a boy.
